As a project team lead, you have navigated through the initiation, planning, execution, and execution closure phases of the project. The last phase of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK guide) is the control phase where the project is formally closed and documented. However, a critical phase that many project team leaders overlook is the sustaining control phase also known as the monitoring control phase.
Sustaining control or sustaining control processes involves four key components: perform process control, control scope, perform integrated change control, Lean Manufacturing consultant and control communications.
The execution control phase starts, where quality control measures are ensured to identify and correct defects, which could impact the project plan or the organization. One key tool used for the control phase, specifically, quality control, is ISO 9000.
