Pill with imprint BMS 6063 500 is White, Oval and has been identified as Glucophage XR 500 mg. The immediate release formulations are available as 500 mg, 850 mg, and 1000 mg tablets. Use drug only in patients who are cooperative and well motivated, and who are receiving supportive psychiatric therapy. It also remains a strong backup option for people who don’t react well to other medications, or who can’t stop drinking.
Don’t use drug in pregnant patients. Don’t give disulfiram for at least 12 hours after alcohol ingestion. Be sure to wait at least 12 hours after your last drink before beginning to take disulfiram. Among the medications to treat AUD, disulfiram is the least safe-especially in those people with liver disease (e.g. liver cirrhosis or elevated liver function tests). Your doctor will likely need to monitor your liver function tests if disulfiram is prescribed.
